EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training required. Two years Advanced Practice nursing experience preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be licensed as an APRN with prescriptive authority in the State of Florida. Must hold Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). DEA registration SUMMARY Evaluates clients for psychiatric illness, diagnose, and initiate treatment. Provide medication management for assigned clients based upon approved protocols. Participates in Quality Improvement activities. Attend medical management staff meetings and mandatory staff training sessions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Provide client evaluation, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and education, prescribe medications, and document such activities in the electronic health records system. Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess client’s clinical problems and health care needs and documents such activities electronically as indicated. Develops reports in electronic health records to include but not limited to: treatment plans and recommendations, progress reports, transfer summaries, etc. Participates in treatment planning with medical and clinical staff, community agencies and other health professionals to prepare a comprehensive client treatment plan. Monitors clinical services through utilization and quality record review procedures and ensures ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained. Refers patients to psychiatrist for consultation or to external health resources for further evaluation/treatment. Ensures client’s safety and confidentiality at all times. Maintains continuing education to keep current with treatment issues and licensure requirements. Participates as a team member and contributes to the enhancement of the department and the agency. Performs other duties as assigned/required. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES There are no supervisory responsibilities assigned to this position. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: Documentation Timeliness- Complete all service data entry billing and documentation within 24 hours. (Psych Notes, Miscellaneous notes, etc…) in accordance with department policy Achieve impact of 75% billed work hours in accordance with Policy HR-56 Impact Standards for Medical Practitioners – Part Time.
