Schedule: PRN xe2x80x93 as needed, no guaranteed hours, not benefit eligible Shift: First Shift (Days – Less than 12 hours per shift) (United States of America) Weekly Work Schedule: As needed – weekdays, 8 – 5 Job Information Exemption Status: Exempt A Brief Overview This position is responsible for providing care to patients with supervision/collaboration of a physician following standards and practices. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications Graduated from an APRN/PA program. Required Skills and Abilities The APRN/PA will work in a team environment with collaboration of a physician for assistance in clinical decision-making, case management and evaluation of performance. (Required proficiency) Ability to obtains patient history and perform assessments via interview and examination. Management of conditions as indicated based on evidence based medicine. Ability to order, conduct and interpret diagnostic studies related to specialty area and visit purpose. (Required proficiency) Ability to conducts preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and other task related to specialty area and visit purpose. (Required proficiency) Willingness to learn necessary computer skills, document delivery of health care and nursing processes within specialty area. (Required proficiency) All APRN incumbents are required to maintain Registered Nurse competencies as designated by Federal and State organizations and as outlined in SVH policy. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse Must hold a RN license with advanced practice certification Required or Physician Assistant (PA) – KSBHA Required Additional certifications may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License is required. Basic Life Support – BLS Required within 90 days of hire. Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner certification is preferred. What you will do Provide a broad scope of services including the diagnosis and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, physical examinations, surveillance and regulatory exams, and preventive services. Collaboration with physicians in managing acute and long term medical needs of patients. Provide monitoring and continuity of care between visits. Manage medical emergencies. Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed. Order appropriate laboratory diagnostic procedures. Effectively use laboratory equipment in the clinic and know procedures for sending laboratory tests to a reference lab. Administer/prescribe medications and injections according to physician direction and evidence based medicine standards. Suture minor lacerations. Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Ensures that care delivered to patients is provided according to the Stormont Vail Health mission, strategic plans, and all internal/external regulations, policies and procedures. Practices within the Kansas Nurse Practice Act and within the guidelines of management protocols. Supports the established care models of Stormont Vail Regional Health Center. Has prescriptive authority per Kansas Nurse Practice Act and SVH protocols. Maintain and review patient records, charts, and other pertinent information. Post tests and examination results. Document and manage information using electronic medical record and other tools Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation as needed. Management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources as indicated. Counsels and educates patients regarding preventative health, diagnosis, treatment options and resources including referrals.
