Coburn Health and Wellness Center, a 170,000 square-foot multipurpose facility built in 2012. The Health and Wellness Center includes classrooms, a nursing triage clinic, a priority clinic, a fitness center, and a healing garden for personal reflection. This position will be located in the primary care clinic of University Health Services. Responsibilities Following approved APRN protocols, performs diagnostic examinations and examinations for specific complaints in the identification and evaluation of illnesses and injuries. Initiates diagnostic laboratory tests, and other procedures as medically indicated. Makes medical assessments and initiates procedures and/or treatments within established protocols under the direction of the physician. Documents the patient history, physical and emotional state, diagnostic findings and treatment in the patient’s medical record/EMR. Reviews and discusses with patient the results of laboratory and other tests. Makes medically indicated referrals to other specialists/consultants as necessary. Confers with physician regarding patient management when appropriate. May function as a preceptor for Nurse Practitioner students. Actively participates in the revision of APRN protocols annually. Assists in the development of educational and instructional materials and programs. As needed, assists in patient triage, phone inquiries, orientation and training of personnel assisting with patient care. Attends and participates on committees, conducts case presentations, and performs special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications Masters degree and two years of experience. Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program. Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes. A valid Florida licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (in accordance with Chapter 464, FS); or are you licensed in another state with the ability to obtain licensure in Florida. Preferred Qualifications Ability to deal with crises and manage sensitive information. Ability to assess patient condition independently or in consultation. Provide appropriate treatment or referral for treatment. Knowledge of and ability to apply current principles, methods and practices for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. Knowledge of prescription drugs and other medications and the standard concepts, practices and procedures related to pharmaceuticals. Ability to differentiate emergency from non-emergency situations. Knowledge of and ability to safely perform medical examinations and/or tests on patients including but not limited to X-Rays, EKGs and radiological exams.
