Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner (xe2x80x9cNPxe2x80x9d) provides health care services under the general supervision of the Practice physicians. She/he focuses on medical management treatment, patient follow-up, and health screening as well as enhancing patient wellness with health education and counseling in regard to pain management. The NP should support the Clinical Supervisor for advice, opinion, and information or may occasionally act in the capacity as a supervisor/manager in emergent or unexpected situations if needed to sustain daily operations. As a Practice Provider, the NP is considered a vital part of the management team. Interventional Pain Management experience a plus! Requirements Live in Lee County currently Active Florida license Must have comprehensive understanding of current regulations on managed care, HMOxe2x80x99s, entitlements (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). At least two yearsxe2x80x99 experience as a nurse practitioner/physicianxe2x80x99s assistant in a medical provider setting (hospital or physician office). Must have extensive knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCxe2x80x99s coding. Adhere to HIPAA and Corporate Compliance plan Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (Preferably Nextgen) Detail oriented. Positive attitude Job Specifications The Nurse Practitioners job responsibilities are listed below. However, it is also implied that she/he will also do any additional tasks requested by physicians. Interview patient. Obtain and record health patient medical history. Perform physical and developmental assessments. Order appropriate diagnostic tests. Diagnose health problems. Manage selective medical problems of those patients, which she/he has been educated. Perform bedside procedures as trained such as injections Assist physicians in surgery center procedures Provide health teaching and counseling Maintain health records for clients with uncomplicated acute illnesses and stable chronic diseases. Order lab tests and imaging studies as indicated. Communicate any patient issues/problems with the primary care physician as indicated. Submit patient charges in a timely fashion (less than 24 hours). Fill out patient/insurance paperwork as needed. Review urine drug tests Attend pain management CME. Submit all EMR generated documents to the PAQ (provider approval queue) for electronic signature by the end of the day. Works with the Clinical Supervisor about scheduling and other issues. xc2xb7 Prescriptions: Order non-narcotic prescriptions (for drugs that are not Schedule II (2)). If patient is on a Schedule II (2) drug, physician authorization and signature must be obtained. Ability to professionally interact with all co-workers, physicians, patients and system vendors. Must maintain confidentiality of patients and APMSS. Adhere to HIPAA and Corporate Compliance Plan at all times. May be required to perform duties and responsibilities not listed in this description, on a temporary or long-term basis. Marketing It is expected that the NP will assist the practice in marketing efforts to promote the practice to other physicians, health care providers, and other nurse practitioners. It is also expected that the NP help obtain new patients to help the practice grow. APMSS would like to promote the NP, as a vital member of a staff with the following: Pay for memberships to local professional associations and events such as dinners, meetings, or conferences. Several times a year, it is expected that the NP should attend local talks, educational events such as lectures presented by APMSS staff and other local health care providers. Provide suggestions that would help the practice obtain new referrals or patients. Voluntarily participate and attend community events such as health fairs or popular local events that APMSS may sponsor to promote the practice. Write a brief biography for APMSS for the Practice brochure or web site. Distribute his/her business cards to individuals who may be interested in the services of APMSS. Refer patients and other individuals to the APMSS web site for information about the practice and educational information. Participate in any media or public relations events if asked to do so. Attend local dinners to learn about new drugs and techniques as well as meet other practitioners and health care providers. If requested, attend all state or national pain conferences (i.e. ASIPP). Human Resources Support: Attend regular clinical staff meetings and/or other meetings for assessment, planning, and problem resolution. Participate in clinical staff meetings. In case of Clinical Supervisor absence, lead meeting. Mentor and teach clinical subordinates. Document inappropriate behavior, patient interaction, policy and procedure violations via email to Clinical Supervisor and HR. Recommend specific training that will help new and/or current clinical staff operations.
