Nurse Practitioner

This role is based out of the Simmons Care Clinic which operates independently and is not affiliated with Simmons Foods, Inc. However, the Care Clinics do provide support to Simmons Foods, Inc.The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for patients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status). Work is performed with considerable independence under the general medical direction of a physician. Work is guided by internal policies and protocols and physician approved guidelines. Work is evaluated through chart review, consultations, conferences and the observation of results. The Nurse Practitioner provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints, in collaboration with the supervising physician and through implementation of standardized procedures. Education: Minimal: MSN from accredited nursing program and two years of clinical experience License/Certificates Minimal: Current APN license in the state you are providing care with current Prescriptive Authority Working Conditions May be exposed to a variety of healthcare settings including clinical, office and/or maintenance environments. Physical/Mental Abilities Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend and stretch in order to retrieve supplies and operate standard office equipment Ability to lift, hold and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to communicate and respond to inquiries both in person and over the phone. Obtains a complete medical history and performs physical assessments appropriate to the patientxe2x80x99s presenting complaints and age. Analyzes, interprets and evaluates subjective and objective findings to develop an assessment in order to initiate a treatment plan or referral to appropriate physician or providerPerforms routine therapeutic duties (e.g., providing first aid care, wound care, suturing minor wounds and lacerations, suture removal, incision and drainage procedures) and collaborates/consults with the physician as indicated in Nurse Practitioner protocols Develops plan of care based upon assessment, which includes prescribing appropriate medications and treatments, providing follow-up care and evaluating the effectiveness of carePromotes healthy living through education and primary prevention. Provides patient education regarding medications, treatments, anticipated outcomes and referrals Provides appropriate documentation in the medical chart Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
