Kent Campus Hospital STATUS: Full Time 80 Hours SHIFT: Day/ Nights General Summary: This credentialed Nurse Practitioner works within a collaborative model to provide quality care and to improve patient outcomes by strengthening continuity of care in all settings for patients, families, and staff in both the hospital and physician practice settings and has authority to write orders. As defined by department leadership, the level II NP may be expected to be on call, commit to certain operating room and/or rounding requirements , or possess desired skillsets. Responsibilities: 1. Examines patients to determine presence of illness, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of illness and prescribes treatments as indicated. Provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, and other members of the care team, and be expected to manage patient care autonomously within the scope of their professional practice. 2. May provides inpatient care, rounding on surgery patients and providing pre, peri and post-op services including: (A) Caring for complex surgical population, (B) Assisting responsibilities in the operating room (C) Ordering and collecting test samples and assessing to update patient’s plan of care as necessary (D) Educating patients and families during patient’s hospital stay (E) Taking appropriate action when medical complications arise (F) Within the scope of their education, training, and credentialing, provide full-scope care for patients in the inpatient setting 3. Develops plan of care for patients in coordination with multidisciplinary team and completes appropriate reports to physicians and family. 4. Orders and reviews appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Reviews all lab data and documents. Issues prescriptions to patients based on Federal & State Regulations. 5. Documents and maintains patient records of services provided according to facility and nursing standards. 6. Provides direct clinical care for the patient population according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based practice standards in collaboration with the team. 7. The NP provider will participate in educational activities, and research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe by their collaborative agreement and State regulations 8. May perform minor medical procedures (sutures wounds, incise and drains wounds, repairs lacerations, etc.) according to licensure and credentialing. Administers injections, immunizations and oral medications, starts IV. 9. Provide patient education, counseling, and instruction regarding patient diagnosis, medical treatments, medications, and preventative care. 10. Maintains accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with organizational standards in the electronic health record (EHR). 11. Participates in the performance improvement processes to meet the quality of care and service standards. 12. Participate in and support accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organization. 13. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities. Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience: Education: Master Degree Nursing Credential(s): Registered Nurse Nurse Practitioner; Nurse Practitioner – Controlled Substances Registration; Basic Life Support; Nurse Practitioner License must be relevant to the specialty assigned.
