Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Adelphi is seeking a Nurse Practitioner – Psychiatry to provide long term coverage at a facility located in Williamsburg, VA. Candidates must have experience working with acute adults inpatient populations. Job Quick Facts: Profession: Nurse Practitioner Specialty: DNP/ NP – Psychiatrist Job Type: Contract/Locum Location: Williamsburg, VA Coverage Type: Clinical Coverage Period: 3-6 months Facility Type: Hospital Start Date: ASAP Shift Schedule: Mon to Fri, 8am – 5pm; with 1 Hour Lunch Break Once a month, Participation in Lunch Coverage Call (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM) Patient Demography: Adults (male & female) Caseload: 40-45 (varies by ward and assignment) Rate: $85 – $95/hr Requirements: Active VA license BC/BE in General , Geriatric Or Forensic Psychiatry BLS/ACLS Certification DEA Certificate Proficiency in EHR (Cerner Millennium) documentation 3+ more years as a Physician/Practitioner Strong experience working with patients having Serious Mental Illness (SMI) Psychiatric Crisis Management and Forensic experience, a plus Experience working with adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult and geriatric populations. Comfortable working on admissions work up and potential rapid turnover Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Responsible for patient care that includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population. Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner. Completes admission medical assessments (including history and physical examinations, mental status examination) and entering admission orders. Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures. Monitors patientsxe2x80x99 progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed. Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status. Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed providing DSM-5 Diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment. Provides coverage to the medical clinic, the admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed. Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices. Assesses and address medication side-effects and report adverse drug reactions.
